Can I Whiten My Teeth While Still Wearing Braces?
According to Farrow Orthodontics, the answer is you can in fact have them whitened, but it is not recommended. The biggest concern from Dr. Farrow is that when you get your braces off after whitening, you may have yellow squares on your teeth where the brackets were. The discoloration will take away from all the hard work you just put in to get that perfect alignment.
Is There an Alternative?
Of course, we understand you still want to maintain a pearly white smile. But instead of getting your teeth whitened, which can result in discoloration later on, the best thing you can do is to use a whitening toothpaste, mouthwash and floss! Also, you should be following a daily oral hygiene routine to keep your teeth healthy with braces.
As soon as those braces are off, our team at Farrow Orthodontics will clean them and whiten them for you! If you or your child are still not happy with the color of the teeth, then whitening strips or whitening by a local dentist is always an option for after the braces are off.
