Brush and Floss Regularly to Keep Your Teeth Healthy

With Christmas next week we at Farrow Orthodontics in Philadelphia, PA want to remind patients of the following:

Brush and floss after every meal. If you can’t, making friends with sugarless gum is an alternative. Dr. Anthony Farrow warns that leaving food to sit on your teeth allows it to become acidic and cause a number of problems if left to sit there.

Your teeth are not tools. While using your teeth for nut cracking, you may end up cracking your teeth! Dr. Farrow also recommends avoiding things like opening bottles or even breaking off a piece of tape to wrap gifts with your teeth. There’s other things that you can use.

Be mindful of the things you consume this Christmas. Holiday drinks like eggnog and hot cider has a lot of sugar in them, as well as the chewy, candied fruity fruitcakes. Whatever it may be, Dr. Farrow notes that moderation is the key to enjoying treats.

Be sure to keep up with your oral hygiene because Dr. Farrow’s going to find out who’s naughty or nice to their teeth. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call us during our normal business hours at 215.247.9060. Merry Christmas!
